FLASHBACK: CBC VANCOUVER CREW AT EPCOT CENTRE, WALT DISNEY WORLD, 1984

FLASHBACK
Epcot Centre 1984 from CBC Vancouver Photo Boards

Years ago, Bruce McDonald created a series of photo boards which captured CBC staff and production teams in the offices and studios, on location, and at social gatherings.  The boards were framed under glass and displayed in the hallways on “S” Floor at 700 Hamilton Street in Vancouver.  Those collections may no longer grace the walls there, but every single picture was rephotographed by Glenn Weston and Bill Morris, giving all of us the opportunity to look back and enjoy the memories here.  A huge “thank you” to both Glenn and Bill!

This new Flashback photo is one captured by Glenn Weston and shows the Vancouver crew in Disney World in 1984.  They were there for the Disney World Epcot Centre celebrations of Canada Day, featuring a young comedian named Jim Carrey and the then-14-year-old singer, Celine Dion.  In this particular picture, the crew surrounds one of the very first Sony Betacams to arrive in North America.  Glenn recalls, “We were all impressed with the integrated Beta VTR.”
