AGM ON MARCH 15, 2026

HAVE A SAY IN THE FUTURE OF YOUR CBC/SRC ASSOCIATION, BC CHAPTER, ON  SUNDAY, MARCH 15 (2:00 p.m.) AT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING,  RAINBOW CREEK STATION MEETING ROOM AT BURNABY CENTRAL RAILWAY (NOTE; NO TRAIN RIDES ARE AVAILABLE DUE TO TRACK CONSTRUCTION IN PROGRESS).  Scroll down for full details, address, parking and transit information.

Many of you are already aware that the Association finances have dwindled to almost nothing – in part because no dues have been collected for several years and also because of rising costs which have impacted events.  The Association has not held an Annual General Meeting since 2019 and the time has come to make decisions about its future.

Do you wish the CBC/SRC Association to continue and if so, do you have ideas on how funds can be raised?  Dues can be reinstated and with the membership’s approval, raised.  However, membership has dwindled and building it up will be vital.  Most events organized by the Association are no or very low cost; the exception is the annual Christmas dinner party at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club.  The cost of this event has been subsidized annually to keep the attendance fee down.  How do you feel about paying dues to support that event if you don’t attend it?

-  The Stationbreak.ca website is handled by the CBC/SRC Association.  Currently material is prepared and posted by Peggy Oldfield and Ron Devion with the technical assistance of Bill Morris.  While willing to continue with postings if the CBC/SRC Association continues to function, it is imperative that others get involved, both to ease the workload for those doing it now and to make content appealing to more recent CBC Vancouver employees/retirees than is currently being accomplished.

If the decision is made to have the CBC/SRC Association continue, an election of officers will be necessary.  Nominations are required for the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.

Our current President, Joe Holman, has announced that primarily for health reasons he is stepping down from that role.  Neil Gillon, Jacquie Fitzgerald and Peggy Oldfield have agreed to stand for their current positions of Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary respectively.

If you wish to run for any of the above Executive positions or put forward any nomination(s), please advise Peggy Oldfield at pegomik@telus.neT .  Note that candidate(s) must agree to the nomination. Not ready to consider being on the Executive?  Then join the Board as a Member-at-Large.  Please advise Peggy if you would like to do so.

-          Most of the residential streets on the west side of Willingdon Avenue allow non-resident parking, but please note one must take care to observe the parking signs on those streets.
